There are 120,000,000 people who are in harms way of volcanos just in Japan they could die any day without knowing that it was going to happen. They would all be buried in lava within minutes. There are several more cases all around the world like this and people shouldn't have to die because of it. The Winnipeg walkway system or the Winnipeg skywalk is in Winnipeg Manitoba CA. It is a safe underground place where people can go whenever there may be a possble eruption. We could also have an early warning system to warn the citizens ahead of time so they can either get out of the city or so they can go the walkway.
Volcanic eruptions effect people greatly. Volcanos destroy building and melt structures. Family's are torn apart because volcanos have taken someone in their family. Volcanos also have demolished acres of land and killing animals. We can keep letting volcanos destroy homes and lives or we can protect people that live near volcanos. I don't think we want another story on the news saying that 56 people died because of a volcano. How about a story like "City saved" over 1,000 people we able to escape the city into the underground walkway. No deaths.
Some volcanos have rugged peaks because of lava domes instead of a summit crater. Others have massive plateaus. The tallest volcano is a volcano called Nevados Ojos de Salado and is 22,595 ft tall. It last erupted 1300 years ago. There is also a minor ash emission in 1933. The most dangerous volcano is a super volcano called Yellowstone Caldera. It has had many eruptions millions of years ago some of gem are classified as super eruptions.
Many cities are already using the early warning system. There are different sounds for different causes. The wailing blast means to get to shelter emeditaly. The contiguous blast is an all clear. Finally the pulcing blast means to tune in to any fm radio. With early warning people will be able to get their families out of the city and to safety.
The walkways and warning system are not new ideas. They are both ideas that are being used today but the idea that we have put the two together. The early warning system will alert people to either get out of the city or to go into the walkway. Enterainces to the walkway would be close to homes and major shopping areas. Walkways would need to have food and supplies stocked up there would have to be cans, boxed food, and, water. People will not be in the walkway for long the rescuers will release the emergency door and people are allowed to go out. If we don't do something soon people will get hurt.
